PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
Given the existing structure, optimal use of ceiling space was critical to maximizing available space for public areas.
Air distribution for the stage was ensured through fabric cladding that provided a layered diffusion effect.
The mechanical systems for the hall and stage were designed to ensure an acoustic level of NC 25.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project involved the extension and renovation of an 800-seat theatre. The stage house was raised 30 ft. so as to enable maximum use of décor, and all of the building's ventilation and air conditioning systems were replaced.
Mechanical and electrical works:
- Demolition of annexed wings and rebuilding of the hall, balconies and offices over 3 stories (2 400 ft², including air conditioned spaces).
- Demolition and removal of the existing air conditioning system.
- New ventilation/air conditioning systems in two zones: one zone consisting of the parquet circle and balcony area, the other being the stage.
- Addition of fire protection equipment throughout the building.
- Electrical supply for all stage equipment (lighting, audio visual).
- Complete rebuilding of the electrical systems.
- Energy recovery system including a heat wheel for efficient operations.
Structural works:
- Demolition of annexed wings and rebuilding of the hall, balconies and offices over 3 stories (2 400 ft²).
- Demolition of the existing stage house and construction of a larger, higher one with new stage equipment, walkways and grid.
- Pile foundations.
- Reshaping of a portion of the parquet circle and balcony floors.
